Two Posts in a Week - WOWZA

Just a rambler folks...

I was thinking about this earlier today. Watching the live streamover at tomgreen.com, and half the callers yell out swear words, orracist comments before hanging up...regular anti-social behaviour. It boils down to jealousy, I guess. Anyway, 95% of the callers are prickswho try to spread negativity, so Tom just unplugged the phone, andthat's the end of the phone calls...I'm kinda bummed because I've triedto call in before, and there's too many pricks calling in saying 'FUCKYOU FAGGOT'.

The beauty of it is, Tom is the most harmless guy on the planet. Hegoes on the air to goof off and have a good time (for free), and people crap on hishat. It's sad really. The guy is trying to make people laugh...tryingto bring a little glimmer of joy in pathetic people's lives...and mosttake advantage of this by screaming 'GAY!'

Those people don't like Tom...that's fine, but they don't like him somuch that they go on the web, wait around all day for him to come on,then pay long distance fees to call in on his show...what the hell isthat about? They must really not like him, maybe even hate him. Hate him so much that they become obsessed with him, and trying to ruin his show.

It reminds me of some article I read last year about the psychology of taggers. People who spray paint their names on shit (not graffitti art, just tags). It's essentially vandalism. And they sorta explained as people acting out their resentment of not being able to have everything they want in life, so they try to bring everyone down to their level. They try to ruin things for other people so that no one can enjoy themselves. It's on a smaller scale, but it's a way of saying, 'I might not have built this wall, but I pissed on it. I'm leaving my mark on the world.'

It's weird, it's anti-social, and it's depressing. Can't we all just get along? *tear*

Haha...ahh...still, it made me think about my situation a little bit...no subscribers to worry about on myspacee...but I still get theoccasional view/hit for my blog...from random strangers...and I wasthinking, if Tom gets crapped on for being a nice guy...whoever is reading this, probably doesn't like me a wholelot either (I'm just playing the odds/percentages here)...there's a lot of pent-up aggression and anger, passive hostility, and even outward hate on the internet, and in real life too. It's also easier to act it out on the internet.

I guess the whole Tom Green thing comes down to human/animalbehaviour/nature. It's a little depressing though...there are somepeople that are genuinely nice...and then there are others who seeeveryone else as a threat to their being/exsitence/popularity.

Regardless of who you are, we're all working an angle, and that'sfine...it's just that 95% of the people I meet or run into have thesort of mentality that says 'I'm the only who can have cake, I won'tshare it, and I'll actually try to stop you from havin yours...' I'vehad a couple of run-ins like that over the past few weeks...

It's effed up.

A postive outlook and positivity in general is very hard to comeby...to boil down this little rant down into a simple phrase: Would itkill everyone to be nice? Would it kill everyone to lend a hand once inawhile? Would it kill everyone to stop being an ass?

The answer, evidently, must be 'yes', or else I'd still have a chance to phone one my idols.

The question becomes then...is society as we know it, coming to an end?!

DUN dun dun dunnnnnn

Tune in next week and find out.
________

On to less depressing thoughts...for the record, I thought I did okay at Yuk's. I went on as the 14thact out of 16th, so everyone was pretty laughed out (or tired of notlaughing). I was about to go on after a real stinker of an act, but Igot bumped at the last minute, and ended up going on after one of the morepopular/polished acts (Trevor Thompson). It's always hard going out after a good act, especially when your own act consists of crap.

I've read/heard/been told/seen/known that it takes time to perfect an act...and that it does, no arguing with that...but I have no time/interest in polishing my turds. I'll head out next month with a new set, and think about unleashing a new character after that...good times (hopefully)!
______

I think that's it for tonight...I have a long day in the morning (it's already 1:40 AM here). Hopefully there will be more positive than negative energy flowing around over the next few weeks. There's not much I can do about the world, except try to be positive myself...

Who's excited for the school year!

Alright, talk to ya'll then.

The day the laughter died...

As promised, here's some lame stand-up stuff:

I'll be doing a new lame 5-minute set at Absolute Comedy in September - that trainwreck will be uploaded when it happens.

______________

I went out today planning to shoot another segment (Ottawa Named 'Least Sexy City in Canada')...I've never been to Meech Lake before, and I figured with everyone here always talking about it, that the beach would be fairly nice/big. It was not...parking was a rip-off ($9) and with not enough space/people, I'll have to do this particular segment in September elsewhere.

Apart from that, I've been working hard on the radio show pilots with mixed results. Michael Daly, a local stand-up comic, was kind enough to come down to the station to do an interview on Monday.

I've got 3 more interviews coming up this week, and I'll be able to edit and submit the pilots in early September when I get back to Ottawa. More news on that front to come...

Summer's practically done...I've got another week of work (as far as I know) before I head home to Toronto for the remainder of August. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the season!

See ya in the unfunny papers (that's where I'll be),
